Your EGO.

Is it running your show, creating interference and problems for you, or, contributing its best by accepting a position as part of your Identity Team?

Rules, Expectations, Assumptions --- of Your Ego:
  1. Impulsiveness: short-term participation with high emotional involvement;
  2. Decision reactivity: Fight, Flight, or Fright to a perceived threat;
  3. Control: always wants acknowledgement, recognition, acceptance, authority;
  4. Identity is tied to material worth: territory, possessions, status, affiliation;
  5. Sexual opportunities are exciting, fun, energizing, co-dependent, sensual;
  6. Disappointments are perceived as the responsibility and creation of others;
  7. Simplicity rules: right or wrong, good or bad, with me or against me.

Potential Benefits, (from Dinosaur Brains, by Albert J. Bernstein):
    • ... predictable, spontaneous, dependable;
    • ... can be fun, exciting, elating, infatuating;
    • ... can energize, arouse, and stimulate enthusiasm;
    • ... offers nonstop action, no ambiguity, no wasted effort;
    • ... supplies a lot of force and conviction, motivation;
    • ... enjoys feelings of affiliation, loyalty, and pride;
    • ... is very powerful.

Frequent Errors, (from Dinosaur Brains, by Albert J. Bernstein):
  • ... can't tolerate waiting, boredom, repetition, >> no patience or planning;
  • ... self-centered, only focus is one's own needs, >> no empathy, compromise;
  • ... cannot tell reality from fantasy, attracted to imagination grown from desire;
  • ... over-competitiveness >> overly sensitive & defensive & abrasive;
  • ... always wants to do the easiest and least frightening stuff first;
  • ... makes no distinction between the name of an object and the object;
  • ... always wants what is attractive and perceived to be available;
  • ... often made destructive by toxic shame >> perfectionism, co-dependencies;
  • ... doesn't want to learn >> assumes it knows enough, everything;
  • ... supports prejudice, intolerance, racism >> genocide, and wars;
  • ... can turn everything into a crisis.
