BIBLE ATLAS in Powerpoint Presentation
Read ALL of this document before beginning.
It is recommended that you Print a copy to guide you.
This task involves placing an icon on your Windows desktop so that you can easily access the Presentation, AND, installing the Viewer required to display the Presentation files.
NOTE:
This is a Presentation, not a program.
It is like a slide show.
1. Installing the VIEWER:
The Viewer is a program which converts the Presentation files into displays and allows for the basic management, modification and use of them.
Open your Windows Explorer file management program by
Selecting the "Start" button with your mouse pointer, and
-
Selecting "Programs" from the popup menu

Selecting the "Windows Explorer" entry
There are other ways you can open the program.
Use them if, you know them and are confident in their use.
A two-column display will open.
- From the left side column
Select the folder "Health Balance Package"
- Select the "+" to open the folder content file listing.
- Select the "+" beside the "04-Viewers" folder.
- Select the "MS-PP-Viewer" folder.
- Go to the rights side column.
Double-click on the program "PPView97.exe"
- A dialog box will ask if you want to install
the Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer
Select the "Yes" button.
- A Setup display will be shown.
You have the option to either
Remove all components (if already installed)
--------------- OR ---------------
a Welcome notice to the installation & copyrights.
Select "Continue" from the lower left of the notice.
- The program will suggest a folder destination, like
C:\Program Files\PowerPoint Viewer
Do NOT change unless you know the significance of such a change.
Select "OK" at the bottom left.
- An End-User Agreement will be displayed.
Read, then Select "Accept" - from the bottom left.
- An information box will be displayed
with a large square icon at the left
showing a monitor and a set of eyeglasses.
The word "Install" will be at the right of it with a description.
Select the icon.
- The program will check and confirm that
you have adequate space to install the program
If space is adequate, it will proceed to install the files.
- An instruction box will inform you that the
Viewer was installed correctly.
Select "OK" to close the program.
- Continue to the next part of this setup.
2. Creating the Bible Atlas desktop icon.
- Return to the left column of Windows Explorer.
- Select the "Health Balance Package" folder.
- Select the "+" beside the folder to open the listing.
- Select the "+" beside folder "01 Scriptures"
- Select folder "BibleAtlas"
- Go to the right side column of Explorer
Select (highlight/single-click) "Batlas22.ppt"
Be patient, this will take some seconds to read the file
before the Options box opens.
- Select "Create Shortcut" from the list of options.
- Select the new shortcut item from the right-side column and
holding the left mouse button depressed, drag the entry
onto a blank area of the Windows desktop, then, release the button.
- Click once on the label part of the icon to highlight it.
- Place the mouse pointer in the box and click once.
- Change the wording of the label to something easy for you
to remember but not more than 4 words.
- Drag the icon to a convenient location on your desktop, OR,
drag to a desktop folder.
- You can create a desktop folder to hold some of your shortcuts by
right-clicking your mouse pointer in any unobstructed area of your
Windows desktop and selecting the New/Folder option.
Drag whichever shortcuts you want in the folder into it.
Open or Close the folder for access to the shortcuts, or,
to open up / clear space on your desktop.
- Close the Windows Explorer program display.
3. Using the Presentation.
Remember, this is a FREE presentation designed by a teacher for his class and not a $100,000 funded professional program.
This Presentation provides 53 "slides" which you can view, modify, or print.
Some slides are simple drawings; others are NASA aerial photos.
When you start the Presentation, be patient.
It is a large file and will take a few seconds to load.
EXPERIMENT - PLAY - LEARN - APPRECIATE.
The instructions here are not a substitute for a course in the use of PowerPoint. These instructions introduce you to the Presentation. With experimentation, some will find these adequate. Others may benefit from short instruction in the use of the Viewer itself.
TO BEGIN the Presentation,
Open (double left click on) the Bible Atlas icon you created and moved to your Windows desktop.
Select the hyperlinked underlined title of your interest from the Quick Index listing, at the right.
The selected slide will be displayed.
Select the INDEX button to return to the Quick Index.
To Exit the Presentation, select the icon at the lower left corner of the display. The following options will be displayed in a popup menu:
- Next
- Previous
- Go
- Arrow
- Pen
- Pointer Options
- Screen
- Print
- Exit Show
Choose "Exit Show" to close the Presentation.
Choose "Print" to select any 1, a range of, or all 53 pages to print.
Choose "Go", then "By Title" to get a popup menu listing all the slides by title.
NOTE: This is a very easy way to find and see all of the choices of slides.
If you click on the background of a slide, an information box of "Program Tips" will display. Selecting the icon/button displayed in the middle will take you to a Bible Lands index.
You can select the tile of any slide and advance to the next slide.
You will go to other slides by clicking on any red stars on the slide, or, by selecting any of the underlined entries.
