Jesus Messiah (Christ)
from a Spiritual Perspective.
BACKGROUND:
The Jewish people had been praying for the arrival of a savior
for hundreds of years.
First, the Egyptians had placed them under political control (slaves
as spoils of war and financial indebtedness). Then the Greek and Phoenician
(cousins of the Hebrews) traders had come to dominate the economic and
literary system. The Greek language became the price of inclusion in the
larger society. Only there, could one hope to have access to wealth to
buy one's freedom, or power to encourage political change.
The Romans had politically conquered the region.
Now, the laws, rights, and taxes were set by politicians in Rome and
enforced by foreign military troops and governors sent to the region. Prophets
had earlier warned the Jews that they would lose their political freedom
for their repeated turning away from Spiritual Guidance and denial of God.
They had also foretold that a savior would be born who would free the Jews
from political and economic enslavement.
Everyone expected that this savior would be a military leader
who would lead an armed rebellion against the Romans. Both before and after
Jesus, there were individuals who assumed this role and were happily supported
by enough Jews to result in notable political anarchy and much bloodshed.
SUPERNATURAL ALIGNMENTS:
A huge comet, possibly the largest known in recorded human history,
was present in the sky over the Earth for almost a week. It had the influence
of making the night as light as an overcast day. It had been expected by
the Sumerian astronomers and other scholars to the east of modern day Israel.
These men were also familiar with astrology, a related discipline all considered
together at that time. They knew of the old prophesies and together with
the calculations they made, there was an expectation of something miraculous.
A young woman and an old man were also expecting something miraculous.
They had been Spiritually Guided to marry some months earlier. The man
was considered too old to father a child. The woman was a virgin. From
the Eastern perspective, she was unique biologically and literally one
in a million. And keep in mind that the worldwide human population at that
time numbered in the millions, not billions.
Mary, the woman, was a hermaphrodite: she had both male and female
genitals. Although there are many examples of this in modern times, most
such persons are not biologically formed enough to self-impregnate themselves.
It has been a centuries old tradition in Tibet that whenever such a woman
gives birth, her son would be the next spiritual leader for the community.
Cultures influenced by Western views of biological homogeneity have usually
either destroyed the infant at birth, or, genitally mutilated it to force
it to become solely female or male. This continues today in North American
hospitals and worldwide. Mary became pregnant. She gave birth during the
passage of the comet.
Entertainment, for the majority of people in the region, consisted
in telling stories. These ranged in content all the way from verifiable
fact, to personal experience, to second and third person accounts of historical
events, to spurious explanations of strange events, to exaggerated recounts
of mundane occurrences, to gossip and hearsay, to fantasies constructed
to explain or take advantage of basic human fears.
A good storyteller was one who presented his or her information
in a way that the audience could understand and with enough drama, mystery,
and excitement to keep their attention. Some people earned their overnight
lodging and their meals by telling stories. Some provided more public entertainment
on the streets of towns during the day and evening. Presentation had little
to do with whether a story bordered on fact or fantasy.
Herod, a king ruled the region with the blessing of the Roman
Empire in exchange for a share of taxes and an acceptance of Roman political
guidelines. This king knew of the prophesies and heard rumors about the
stories which the travelling teachers had spread throughout the region
in their recent and short visit. He was very fearful that this infant would
grow up to mount a military rebellion against him. He issued a law requiring
that all male infants that would be near to the age of Jesus be taken from
their parents by the courts and executed in order to preserve the security
of the state, and his power.
Obeying Spiritual Guidance, the infant Jesus was taken out of
the region and escaped the legal culling of male babies. Because of the
political significance accorded to his birth, and later emphasized when
friends and scholars would refer to him as the Messiah (Hebrew for "savior"),
he would always be treated as someone to be worshipped, or, someone to
be feared. Many years after his death, the writers in the Roman Empire
would translate his name from the Hebrew "Messiah" to the Greek "Christ."
The Basic Personality of Jesus
attracted him strongly to be interested in religion,
spirituality, social and political affairs, and justice --- with a strong
degree of independence and flexibility of thought. Consequently, at a young
age, he spent as much time in the synagogue (Jewish religious school-temple)
reading and studying everything he could. The injustices which he could
hear expressed by those around him were great in number. He was also aware
of the persecution taken against other youth who would have been his age
at infancy. He tried greatly to reach an understanding of the political
reality and how it seemed at odds with the economic, social, and spiritual
realities.
An uncle of Jesus, according to Roman and shipping records, was
a prominent exporter-importer for the region. He had trading ships and
caravans which travelled from Spain through southern Europe and North Africa,
through the Middle East, and perhaps as far as India. Jesus, as a worker-apprentice
travelled on some of these trips and met people from many cultures and
a range of customs unlike those of his orthodox Jewish friends. Eventually,
he settled as a professional carpenter in Palestine-Israel.
Jesus continued his religious studies and life awareness training.
One day, he attended a religious ceremony being held by a relative
named John. Here, people with an interest in religion and spirituality
were invited to accept the Gift of communication with their Higher Self
by acknowledging their humility before God and making a commitment to follow
the Guidance of this Spiritual Guide, as a mouthpiece of God, before any
other leader. Political, social, economic, racial, religious and family
leaders would all come second. Jesus chose to accept this Gift. This change
into a new life of Spiritual freedom and direction was symbolically expressed
by his submergence in water and his taking an oath. His countenance changed
immediately to express the joy of the decision.
As soon as Jesus made contact
with his Higher Self, his Ego, SuperEgo, and Unconscious
expressions began to oppose this connection. As the spiritual mission of
Jesus was of an urgency, like most such missions, he was immediately Guided
to go into the desert and learn to manage the expressions of his identity
in favor of a team effort. This had long been an accepted strategy undertaken
by the most motivated in many cultures who were seeking dependable Spiritual
Contact.
So Jesus went.
He placed his identity expressions at the greatest of urgencies and
rebellious strengths by fasting for a long time, often noted as 40 days.
In classical Arabic, 40 is used to convey the meanings of very long, very
large, very many. In the then current and previous mass culture most people
were illiterate, tribal, and herding nomads. The numeral 40 would represent
an number beyond those they would commonly use.
Jesus' Ego,
like any strong ego, was only concerned for the survival and pleasure of
the physical body. It now tempted Jesus with conscious rationalizations
that if he were now Guided, to use this great thing called Guidance to
turn the stones around him into food: work magic. Show me you are better
than I? I dare you. Jesus was prepared. He responded back in his self-talk
that people did not just have bodies; they also had a spiritual nature.
By following Higher Self Guidance, it would be revealed to him what he
needed. Since the Ego cannot understand things spiritual, it could not
respond with yet more wise excuses, and it accepted the leadership of the
Personal Spirit of Jesus.
Jesus' Reptilian Unconscious
was very grieved by this state of physical instability and life sustaining
challenge. Aware that it could not win except by eliciting past habits,
it resorted to the familiar strategy of win-at-all-costs. If the commitment
of Jesus Personal Spirit was to follow the Guidance of his Higher Self,
then it was time to show Its stuff or get lost. The Reptilian response
was one of --- I'm going to die at this rate so I have nothing to lose
by challenging Jesus' Higher Self to please me with magic which will bring
everything back to "normal", or end this misery of frustration and anxiety
of waiting to die. So it challenged Jesus with feelings of invincibility
or death --- hoping that jesus would come to his senses and dump this Guidance
bit. And Jesus reminded himself that it is irreverent to play god and tempt
God as if you were an equal to do your bidding. And returning to a state
of Reverence and No-Emotion, Jesus Unconscious became patient.
Jesus' SuperEgo
now took its turn at trying to overturn Jesus Personal Spirit commitment
to Holy Spirit Guidance. It gave Jesus images of social power such that
he would rule all the kingdoms of the world if he would renounce this foolishness
of Spiritual Guidance and follow its Machiavellian ways of deception and
manipulation. And Jesus shamed his SuperEgo for its hypocrisy of suggesting
social goodness being brought to the world through the use of political
power to restrict, confine, and manage others. Revealed for what it was,
his SuperEgo shrank and acknowledged the leadership of Jesus Personal Spirit.
The above types of challenges to Jesus' decision
to commit to choosing and following his Higher Self would continue. And
he would remain steady and trusting in accessing his Higher Self, often
through private prayer, and of expressing courage and calm through his
actions. He would invite and ask others to assist him. He would learn from
his Guidance as he practiced. At first, he would only share his good news
of Higher Self Guidance with the Jews. Then, when a gentile challenged
him to ask for Guidance and tell her why non-Jews could not also hear the
news, he asked, and received Guidance that the news was for all peoples.
And he changed.
The orthodox Jewish culture is
very ethnocentric
Like a number of other cultures which have become SuperEgo dominated,
it views itself as privileged and special before all others. It holds itself
aloof from other cultures and frequently expresses its intolerance of them
by following one set of rules and values for its own members, and another
set for strangers and foreigners. There are few state-organized cultures
which have not assumed this Super-Ego position. Jesus was familiar with
other cultures and other people. His ethnic traditions discouraged him
from interacting with them. His Spiritual Guidance challenged him to treat
all people equally.
Jesus began his ministry: sharing
the news.
His mission would be to tell as many as would listen that they also
could learn how to receive Spiritual Guidance as he had. It was hard and
it required great self-discipline, but it was possible. And with it they
would become part of miracles even as he continued to be and others could
see. If they received and chose to follow the Guidance that came from God,
they would be participating in life as if they were agents of God --- as
if they were Daughters and Sons of God. For as long as they were following
such Guidance, they were expressing God's will for the world.
In a world in which worship and reverence
were commonly expressed for human leaders, material and sensual desires,
power, and authority --- the message of Jesus was too simple and too unworkable
for most to understand. How could they forgo everything they had been taught
and everything that they had sacrificed for and guarded against --- for
this invisible idealism? The proof would be in the living of what one believed
in.
First, he sold or gave away all
of value that he had, as Guided.
He would tell others that it would be almost impossible for them to
become Spiritually Guided as long as they were tempted to gain and keep
personal material possessions and wealth.
Secondly, he gave up his carpentry
profession.
He became a homeless itinerant, going where his Guidance directed him,
staying as long as It Guided, doing what It Guided, moving on as it Guided.
He set about helping people to better appreciate their spiritual guidance
alternatives, to recover from illnesses, to be more caring for each other.
His healing skills can easily be repeated today by chiropractors, chemists,
and herbal practitioners. Such skills were largely unknown in the Roman
colony so many considered them miracles. Many times, his deeds would be
discounted because of his low economic status. If it were not for the later
recording of the memory of a few friends and team-members a lifetime after
his death, we would have little record of his existence.
The difficulties of the human
identity resisting Spiritual Guidance were well known
to him. He had studied and practiced for most of his 30 years of life to
reach Spiritual Guidance. Now that he had it, and from his experiences
with those around him, he quickly concluded that children represented more
hope than adults for an improved future directed by a greater degree of
Spiritual Guidance. Adults were encumbered with energy blocks plus the
social imprinting and political norms of their society. Children were more
flexible in thought and action with the expressions of their identity beginning
to form and less focused on the values of physical reality: wealth, power,
stability, acceptance, opulence. Children were more able to consider his
concepts without simply defending against them because they were different.
So, he encouraged his team to be especially considerate of children.
He would understand the workings
of the bureaucracies and institutions, later, when he
became politically and socially persecuted. He would encourage people to
protest quietly and assertively rather than with force through revolution
and military opposition. They would listen for awhile. But frustrated when
political changes did not arise and from the humility of his execution,
they would mount a military uprising against the Romans within 40 years.
As he had warned, the Romans would slaughter the Jews and destroy their
temple. One general would comment on the battle that the battleground was
three feet deep in blood and bodies.
He would be able to accept,
with sadness, how his mission --- of necessity --- would take him into
conflict with the church he was brought up in. He knew, as institutions
and people are slow to change and quick to defend, that he would have to
accept unjust legal indictments against him, or, renounce the Spiritual
Guidance he received. Accused in fear, convicted in jealousy, sentenced
in greed for power, and taunted on the cross by proud soldiers --- he would
ask his Higher Self if indeed he must accept this experience and die. Acknowledging
the yes reply, he would never raise the question again.
Every action remembered and recorded
of his life following his commitment to follow Holy Spirit
Guidance, resulted in his confronting the social and political status quo.
Prejudice towards the poor, afflicted, other races, prostitutes, women,
laborers --- were all addressed by his actions. The comfortable acceptance
of the secular existence of the day of simply following orders to get a
paycheck rather than ever questioning the ethical basis of the work and
actions involved were unacceptable to his Spiritual Guidance and Basic
Personality. He expressed anger at frauds and scams perpetrated by the
administrators of his own temple. He chastised dishonest tax collectors
and called for people to share rather than hoard.
He attempted to coach his team
by sharing with them what he had learned.
He treated them as equals and encouraged them not to keep falling into
the easy and well trained habit of the culture of treating him like a leader.
He acknowledged and offered to share his skills. His disciple team-members
would demonstrate their weaknesses from time to time as they were challenged
by their identity expressions to deny Spiritual Guidance.
Three of his team would betray
Higher Self Guidance and Jesus.
All would do so without malice. All would do so from lack of self-management.
One's Ego would raise his aggressiveness and his sword to cut off the ear
of a policeman sent to arrest Jesus. A second's Unconscious, for fear of
imprisonment and torture, would deny knowing Jesus so as to escape the
frustration, hazard, and shame that had come to be associated with this
social rebel. A third, would be consumed by his well-intentioned SuperEgo
which assumed that Jesus was just being shy of power and that once given
the public visibility in the courts and the media that he deserved, Jesus
would be vindicated --- and accepted, as a new social, religious and political
figure. Jesus understood the motivations of each, warned them beforehand,
and accepted what he understood could happen.
Crucified, as a warning to others, Jesus slipped into a coma.
Even to this day in many countries, people who are alive yet comatose
for a variety of reasons are buried alive. As Guided, Jesus's body was
taken to a particular tomb and safeguarded there. He recovered after several
days with the benefit of herbals as used by a friend who had learned to
follow her Holy Spirit Guidance. He met briefly with his team-members to
confirm his survival, and then was spirited away. He would never again
be seen in the Middle East nor ever take a position of social or religious
or political power.

COMMENT
IF you understand the relevancy of the above metaphor, then you are capable of choice and free thought and have a potential or reality of a spiritual perspective. You understand that it is a reference to how one of our Identity Factors (Ego, SuperEgo, or Personal Spirit) will tend to perceive the reality.
The parable/metaphor, often common in verbal histories which formed the basis of hunting and gathering (and herding), tribal (hunting, fishing, agrarian), and early town cultures ... expressed the SPIRIT of the reality through word pictures freely understood by the shared experiences of the communicating group. Later outsiders to these groups, lacking in the shared experiences and seeking to place magical and powerful value on the words, without regard to the meaning, would demonstrate their insecurities by eliminating the colors and relevancy of the SPIRITUAL Truths and reducing them to their own versions of Black and White.
No one ever said anyone was forced to believe whatever was written by anyone. We all have choice and God gave us the emotions and intellect to turn that choice into wisdom by virtue of our own experiences, honesty, openness, and, scepticism clarified by asking humbly for Spiritual Guidance from God as a confirmation for meaning.
IF you have arrived at this page with an Authoritarian attitude or imprinting, then you are justifiably angry and annoyed. The content here calls your belief in the MAGIC of Words and the Reverence for HUMAN Authority into question. These are your gods, confirmed by your reactions. Leave, and go back to the safety of your IDOLS. They are not disputed here. IF you must worship them, that IS your choice.
IF you have arrived at this page with a New Age attitude or imprinting, then you may simply, and incorrectly, perceive this parable as a friendly, child-like, idealistic, and uncommited acceptance of all styles of expression within humanity as somehow spiritual. It is not.
IF it is a parable of the Ego perspective, it is a description of how we like to perceive reality when we are self-centered, immature, and lacking in empathy or compassion.
IF it is a parable of the SuperEgo perspective, it is a description of how humanity is often encouraged by self-centered human institutions to divert one's personal authority to that of self-appointed humans and treat them as gods.
IF it is a parable of the Spiritual perspective, it is a description of how anyone with a true Reverence for God, can perceive the interaction of a human representative with a God who is loving enough to always be available to provide direction, yet, always assertive enough to allow us the choice to proudly make out own mistakes by denying the direction God would have us take for optimum contentment.
As you have found your way here, you must decide for yourself what the significance of the page is for you.
