Your BASIC PERSONALITY.

A Starting Point?

WHAT YOU GET is not always what you see.
Your Basic Personality is that selection of capabilities, trends, proclivities, cycles, patterns and traits which you are born with and which will form the foundation of your behavior and perception for a lifetime.

IT WILL NEVER BE CHANGED.
It can be ignored and result in failure.
It can be aggravated and result in frustration.
It can be denied and result in confusion.
It can be misunderstood and result in anxiety.
It can be acknowledged and result in self-direction, self-esteem, and self-assertion. In our mass materialistic society, all of the negatives frequently apply.

CHARACTER is made, not given.
The traits which we express and which others perceive us to have as adults are always the outcome of an interaction between the following factors:

    • Your Basic Personality;
    • Guidance, sanctions and discipline by one's parents;
    • Feedback from friends, peers, associates, team members;
    • Energy Block responses following traumatic experiences;
    • Teachings received from schools, churches, books, media.

HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ?
From birth we are told by all those around us what they believe we are and what they believe we should or will become. If we have experiences, feeling, or Energy Blocks which encourage us to react as if we have been abandoned, we can seek security and acceptance in everything we do by following these assessments by others.

IF their assessments of us are CORRECT, and they seldom are, we can structure our life accordingly and become very materially and socially successful and content.

IF those assessments, projections, and expectations are WRONG, we will likely live a life of success or failure, and, depression and discontent. Depression has consistently been reported for decades as the most frequent ailment justifying the visit of a North American to their doctor. This, in spite of the fact that it is socially unacceptable to admit to depression and many institutionalized religions deny those who experience it as spiritually lost.

WITH UNDERSTANDING and SELF-DIRECTION, you do not have to remain lost. When I was in my pre-teens, I found the career of aircraft pilot to be a desired future. I studied piloting, aircraft construction plans, and read books about flying. Then I was informed that because I wore glasses, and pilots at the time had to have uncorrected excellent vision ... I could never be a pilot. So, I put aside all thoughts of flying.

A DIFFICULTY WITH HUMAN-BASED AUTHORITY is that it can never be perfect and is seldom relevant or considerate of an individual. Such a sanctioned or institutionalized authority just forgets its mistakes and promotes its successes. That is called "denial". This is called "objective". When you don't know that you don't know, mistakes and misdirections and frustrations are common.

FAILURES CHALLENGE US TO CHANGE, or be defeated.
I became interested in commercial diving as a career.
This was no easy step coming from a farm situated thousands of miles from an ocean and a distance from a major lake. I did learn to swim, become a SCUBA diver, and passed a home-study course in commercial diving. I came within a hair of becoming such a diver.

There was a great personal expense in the specialized training involved and I had little money. I was against joining the military, an alternative training medium, as a means to an end. I had severe pollen allergies and these could make diving hazardous. The risk level perceived at the time denied a commercial diver life insurance and private health insurance. My parents, peers, friends, minister ... all advised me that if I was going to leave the farm the only good direction to go was to head for the city and get a job in business.

I went to the city and fit myself in.
Years later, I could show success in business, a failed marriage, and many years of frustration and unhappiness. A lower back injury and a later severe whiplash together with a massive industry downsizing FORCED a career change. I decided to quit wasting time making any more choices which no matter how hard I tried nor how adept I became ... ended in failure.

I decided to be "intelligent" about the process of career change so I paid for an established and well recognized extensive and scientific career assessment and counselling service: the YMCA Career Counselling Service, in Toronto, Ontario. After two days of constant aptitude, skill, preference and communications testing, I was interviewed. Several days later I got the results.

THE RESULTS.
I was told that I was suited for more careers and more variation of careers than average. I would make an excellent detective ... but not a good regular policeman, a necessary step ... so avoid that. I would make an excellent forestry and environment specialist ... but the field was already glutted with graduates who could not get a job. I would make an excellent surgeon ... but I was too old (at age 30) to be admitted into medical school.

Among the other possibilities, I was also judged as best suited to be successful as a Psychologist or Sociologist, ... so I took night school courses for a year to gain entry to a university. Four years of full-time studies later, I graduated in the middle of a recession with no jobs available for my new training and the mandate that if I was not working within an unemployable industry within months ... my training would be considered out-of-date.
The guidance was good; the timing was wrong.

COULD THIS ALL HAVE BEEN AVOIDED: waste of career training, time, money, health, relationship, security, happiness, and effort. This process is mentioned here because it has been a frequent experience of North Americans born between 1945 and 1975 ... baby-boomers, prosumers. We are even encouraged that because so many people have experienced this kind of career wandering, job change, relationship breakdown, and health challenge --- that it is NORMAL and should be expected. Normal is health. This is not.

AN ACCURATE, THOROUGH CAREER POTENTIAL can be defined, from birth, which matches the Basic Personality of the individual. Following that path will find you contentment and focus. Experimentation and intuition brought the discovery to me. Indeed, all of those people whom I knew were ignorant of it and negative to it.

From my early teens, I had been interested in the study of religions, philosophy, myths, and the occult ... with the emphasis on religions. At this time of career change, not the first time --- I decided to innovate and try something different. I did not know anyone who had tried this and I didn't expect much. I chose and went to one of the few full-time professional astrologers in the area.

PROFESSIONAL ASTROLOGY: Most North Americans have no experience of this. Many are exposed daily to amateur or well-intentioned practitioners who abuse the art for material gain. This is comparable to going to and reading the reports of a dishwasher conjecturing about brain surgery. The difficulty is that most of the public cannot understand the difference between the many frauds and the real thing. As the perfectionist that I was at that time, I looked for a true professional and found one. While the career counselling service was running tests, Mr. Robin Armstrong, of Toronto ... was preparing my astrological chart.

THE RESULTS of Mr. Armstrong were clearly astounding ... compared to the "scientific" ones from the YMCA. With little more than my birthdate and place of birth (no interview nor tests), his interpretation (an art of personal experience in applying the particulars) ... both duplicated the YMCA results and provided 300% more relevant guidance --- for 1/2 the cost and 95% less effort on my part! Unfortunately, until I finished releasing my Energy Blocks more than 15 years later, I still did not fully understand or appreciate the guidance possible and provided by such a method.
Now let's get to know more about what a Basic Personality is.

Rules, Expectations, Assumptions.

IF YOU KNOW AND UNDERSTAND the strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of your Basic Personality, you will also be able to strengthen those weakness and temper the strengths while utilizing the tendencies in a constructive manner. We have all heard someone say that no one knows who they REALLY are. You may even have felt wronged by others yourself when they excluded you from an activity which you wished to be part of, or, included you in an activity you now wish you had not been part of.

Professional astrology tells us that no other person will ever be born on the Earth in a period of at least 25,000 years with the same personality as ours. And because the universe does not stand still, even that possibility can be extended to Never.

All Basic Personalities share the following features:

  1. Capabilities to enhance with focus and training;
  2. Aptitudes that you are born with and retain for life;
  3. Attitudes which you believe all other people share with you;
  4. Needs which you hope others do/do not share with you;
  5. Joins with/is denied by one or more of the Identity team;
  6. Skills which when used provide you with a great degree of success.
  7. Patterns to be aware of and allow for;
  8. Degree of desires which you normally feel;
  9. Tendencies that you can strengthen or diminish.

Potential Benefits.

HOW does our BASIC PERSONALITY best assist us in our lives.

    • ... your best Identity team "worker-employee";
    • ... provides a starting foundation to acknowledge;
    • ... provides almost infinite numbers of individual differences;
    • ... always, our most capable, original and enduring features.

TO IGNORE AND DENY your Basic Personality is like buying a car on sight alone. You do not know what features it has and your assumptions and expectations may always be wrong ... leading to failure and dissatisfaction.

You do not know what fuel (motivation) it requires.
When does it require servicing (needs) ?
What repairs (health) can be planned for ?
How many gears does it have ?
How fast can it cruise (abilities and traits) ?
Can it be upgraded, and if so, how (capabilities) ?
Has it had any recalls (weaknesses) ?
What do others like about it (strengths) ?
How often does it tends to breakdown (patterns, cycles, tendencies) ?

If you would not buy a car with such little information, why would you run your life with such little self-awareness?

THE CHALLENGE is to manage, not be blind to.
To assertively and responsibly carry out any goal, one should clearly recognize both sides of the benefit-error scale.

Frequent Errors.

IF WE KNOW THE WEAKNESSES of our Basic Personality we can guard against them. Without self-awareness we can have no effective self-direction. Without self-direction, there is little success.

    • ... often surrenders authority to the Ego;
    • ... may surrender authority to the SuperEgo;
    • ... can be manipulated by one's Ego or SuperEgo;
    • ... can be deceived by one's Ego or SuperEgo;
    • ... can be confused by one's Ego, SuperEgo, or Unconscious;
    • ... can turn any situation into hopelessness, falsely;
    • ... can turn any situation into despair, falsely;
    • ... can persistently encourage doubt;
    • ... may tend to deny possibilities;
    • ... may facilitate Energy Block creation;
    • ... can discourage Energy Block release.

Demands of Teamwork.

Self-direction demands that we acknowledge reality.
To know reality is to ...

    • make decisions for today leading to tomorrow;
    • humbly go where others fear to go for lack of guidance;
    • acknowledge that others can do many things better than you;
    • appreciate the gifts and limits of your Basic Personality;
    • empower your Personal Spirit by deterring and avoiding abuse;
    • respect your Reptilian unconscious for its survival concerns;
    • reward and discipline your Ego for its assistance;
    • caution and plan with your SuperEgo for the long-term;
    • give thanks for the guidance of your Higher Self.

Get real, or you will go nowhere fast.

Managing Your Basic Personality.

Your Basic Personality is THE GIVEN that is most frequently ignored and denied through our attempts to fulfil the expectations of our Ego, SuperEgo, and Personal Spirit ... while meeting the demands of our Unconscious. Unless this abuse stops, we will never be truly constructive, contented, responsible persons. Only YOU can make your life truly improve.

  1. Appoint your Personal Spirit as the Manager of your Identity Team;
  2. Know and build on the features of your Basic Personality;
  3. Be aware of and acknowledge the positive contributions of your Ego;
  4. Keep a record of guided decisions and their positive outcomes;
  5. Note and remind your Ego of inappropriate decisions it encouraged;
  6. Get going on releasing your Energy Blocks and increasing your skills;
  7. Take adequate rest so that your Unconscious can do its maintenance;
  8. Learn about Hypersensitivities and avoid or recover from them so that your Unconscious is not distracted and overburdened with chronic illness.
