CHOICE: Stay the same, get worse, improve.
Knowing your options gives you opportunity.

Better Decisions:

SOLUTIONS ARE CHANGES to old patterns which have proven to result in failure. For change to occur, one must first acknowledge where one is at. If you don't know where you have been, you likely do not have a clear focus as to where you are headed. Recognize that our expectations, assumptions, habits, and attitudes all pre-design our choices. If you want a better future you must make choices in a different manner. Different is not to be confused with the opposite.

CHARACTERISTICS of environmentally hypersensitive persons, frequently include some of the following:

    • work in science & technology influenced careers;
    • adoption of and striving to meet a status quo;
    • emotionally repressed and largely unaware of self;
    • strong-willed to the point of intolerance;
    • higher than average intellect & academic standings;
    • overachiever tending towards workaholism.

Myths, Go!
THE FOLLOWING MYTHS (good intentions without adequate resources or commitment) are common in North American societies. These myths are believed to bring security, acceptance, confidence, power:

    1. criticism and penalty encourage obedience and order;
    2. failures are hated and mistakes must never be repeated;
    3. powerful persons always know better, follow them and win;
    4. security is getting what one wants now
      ... the future will take care of itself;
    5. know what is acceptable to others and do it;
    6. be yourself and do whatever you want .. it has to turn out for you;
    7. if others don't praise you, it is because you don't deserve it;
    8. winning is everything --- if it is profitable, do it and succeed;
    9. weaknesses are what others use to beat you with --- deny them;
    10. tell others what you want often enough --- and you will get it.

A HYPERSENSITIVE PERSON, may not possess all of the above characteristics or beliefs in their conscious minds or outward behavior. The culture they have grown up in has likely mentored by display and rewarded these traits. These features may be rebelled against intellectually and even in behavior, but deep inside the mind the Unconscious still hears the commands, threats, and expectations. In the end, it will rule by its certain confidence in opposition to the anxiety, fear and doubt of the rationalizing Ego.

FEELINGS of toxic shame and guilt heighten one's need for acceptance and achievement unless chance results in unequaled material success. Failure is fundamentally built-in for the hypersensitive person. Sacrifice, passivity, self-denial, and obsession prevent this otherwise technically capable and committed employee from expressing the self-assertiveness, sharing, networking, self-awareness and flexibility most often required for success. Eventually, such a person accepts too many challenges and fights the battle too long and too hard. Bodily and emotional health are stretched to the breaking point and the immune system puts on the brakes.

The REPTILIAN Unconscious mind is assigned control and with that control it aggressively puts into action its favorite strategy:

We will NEVER AGAIN allow anything
which has resulted in failure or dissatisfaction.

FULL SANCTION (OK) IS GIVEN to the creation of energy blocks which form the foundation of hypersensitivity reactions. It is not that this neurological mechanism was not operating before but rather that it is now active without restraint.

The Winner's Edge.

The Psychology of Winning
by Denis E. Waitley, Ph. D. was introduced in 1978 as a self-paced self-development course. It was one of the earliest courses offered by the Nightingale-Conant Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. Available in cassette and videotape versions, its "Ten qualities of a total winner" would change many lives.

"WINNING" fundamentally reversed the qualities of the slave within an authoritarian driven society, mentioned above. Other refinements would follow, yet even recently, I have seen the reactive symptoms of a hypersensitive person diminish with as little as one review of the tapes. In brief the 10 qualities are as follows:

    1. optimism and enthusiasm encourage involvement and activity;
    2. learn from failures by turning challenges into opportunities;
    3. learn to be the leaders in your life by making decisions;
    4. build security by setting goals and working towards them;
    5. be proactive: correct your mistakes and build on your successes;
    6. build good habits through practice, role-play and simulation;
    7. become most easily that which you picture yourself to be;
    8. share life with those around you and gain greater enjoyment;
    9. work to reduce your weaknesses and build on your strengths;
    10. listen to what others want and work with them to help them.
