Some Parasite Statistics
AMOEBA:
30,000 classified species;
many kinds of protozoal forms are normally found in the small intestines;
measure about 20 microns across and have no fixed shape.
BACTERIA:
1 teaspoon can hold 160,000 million bacteria of average size;
At least 80 different kinds of bacteria live harmlessly in the human mouth;
If it takes 30 minutes for a bacterium to divide in two, it will multiply, if unimpeded, into 1000 million bacteria within 15 hours;
Most clean skin contains around 5 million bacteria/sq. centimeter, that is
approx. 100,000 million bacteria on the skin of an adult;
Spit from a healthy person typically contains 100-1000 million bacteria per c.c.;
On average, a human adult will excrete 100 thousand million to 100 million million bacteria daily.
FLEA:
Over 1600 classified species;
measure 1 to 5 mm long;
are found in all climates;
Credited with helping kill 30 to 45% of the European population (30 to 45 million) during the pandemic of the Middle Ages;
able to jump great distances, both straight upwards and across, measuring up to and over 200 times their body length ... comparable to a human adult jumping 1/4 mile!
can live without a meal for up to a year;
FUNGUS:
Represents some of the most primitive forms of plants;
there are hundreds of thousands of classified species;
reproduction is by spores and spores are always in the air around us;
normal human body temperatures of 37 degrees Centigrade are usually too hot for fungi because most die at 40 degrees Centigrade.
LEECHES:
Can grow for 5 years and live for 20 years or more;
can detect prey at a distance both visually and by sensing tiny amounts of chemicals common in sweat;
feeding may require only a few minutes followed by a digestion-hibernation stage which may last for weeks ... even up to a year.
LOUSE - LICE:
3000 classified species of chewing lice; 400 species of sucking lice;
must feed regularly on blood (12-72 hours) or die;
some species have survived by mutating claw shapes which fit the hair shape
of specific races ... and so may be race specific.
MITE:
found in all climates;
found in many hair follicles, particularly around eyelids;
often promote bacterial skin infections resulting from scratching.
ROUNDWORMS:
20,000 classified species of nematodes;
have lived for over 370 million years on the Earth;
measure from less than a mm. to 8 metres in length;
soil can contain as many as 100 million nematodes/sq. m.
many species live 15 to 39 years or longer
VIRUS:
are often species specific;
measure 1 thousand millionth of a metre or 1 thousandth of a micron;
are the oldest and most primitive form of life known on the Earth;
multiply by using chemicals and nutrients already in your cells;
can remain inactive or dormant within you for months or years until triggered ....
