YOGA:
a balance of breath, meditation and exercise.
PRANAYAMA, that is, a high spiritual state --- is sought in Yoga through exercises and positions designed to discipline and develop good breathing. Positions can be or involve ...
- INVERSION
(headstand, shoulderstand, rockn'rolls),
- LAYING FLAT
(boat or locust position, bow, cobra, fish, sit-ups, sponge),
- ABDOMINAL FLEXING & STRETCHING
(abdominal lift, cat stretch, chest expander, crossbeam, curling leaf, forward bend, fountain, leg-over, mountain, pelvic stretch, pendulum, plough, pump, spread leg stretch, triangle posture, twist),
- ACCENTUATING ONE'S BREATHING
(posture clasp or cow's head, alternate nostril breath, cleansing breath, ... and others).
In relation to the lymph system, consider the following.
- inverted positions utilize a gravity flow;
- supine (flat positions) reduce gravity influence;
- abdominal movement adds-releases pressure on the lymph vessels;
- breathing exercises increase oxygenation and lymph fluid production.
YOGA is a LYMPH STIMULATING series of movements and meditations.
Is it any wonder that persons doing yoga for the first time report great increases in their energy, reduced aches and pains, better sleep, more balanced moods, loss of excess weight, no more menstrual pains, loss of tension and edema, reduced arthritic and bursitis pain, improved digestion, and healthier bladder, sex, thyroid, kidney, heart, prostate, liver, spleen, and pancreas organ functions. The only reason that the lymph system is not mentioned in discussions of yoga --- which either assists or burdens ALL of these is because earlier practitioners didn't know what the lymph system is and what it does.
